Sometimes an instrument comes along that immediately brings with it a special story. Recently we had the opportunity to work on the Selmer SA80 Series II of saxophonist Roe Akramovich .

Roe doesn't just play the saxophone. His playing is enchanting: warm, flowing melodies. that immediately take you along and touch you right in the heart. Every note carries emotion, every solo tells a story. For a musician with such a sensitive sound, it is crucial that his instrument responds perfectly.

A well-deserved makeover

After years of intensive use, Roe noticed that his beloved Selmer was no longer responding as he was used to. The tone lacked sparkle and the touch felt less smooth.

At Specialsax.nl we have completely overhauled his instrument:

• All padding carefully renewed
• Replace worn stop corks
• The mechanism has been thoroughly checked and corrected
• Everything tuned in detail for maximum response and sound

The result

When Roe picked up his Selmer SA80 Series II again, the change was immediately noticeable. The saxophone once again sounded open, warm and powerful – exactly as this top instrument should be. Roe beamed as he played the first notes, and we enjoyed it with him.
